Please introduce yourself and your position at Hotrod Resource?
I_ã_m Ryan, and I am the President and CEO of Hotrod Resource.
Please share where your passion and love of hot rods came from?
I_ã_m an artist at heart. Ô_Always have been. Ô_Classic cars stand out like a really nice piece of art to me. Ô_They are both highly technical and beautiful at the same time. Ô_New cars all look the same. Ô_I don_ã_t care what kind it is.. they still have that plastic fake look and feel and offer nothing to me besides basic transportation.
You are also the owner ofÔ_Tuffrides.com, what made you decide to create Hotrod Resource?
When I created Tuffrides or better yet, the custom spark plug wire looms that make the company, I needed to get my name out. Ô_To be brutally honest, people charge way too much for ad space and make it extremely difficult for a small start up company to go anywhere. I found myself purchasing small 1 to 2 inch square boxes on different hot rod sites for around $50.00 dollars a month for the cheapest ad, up to several hundred dollars. Ô_That_ã_s downright ridiculous. Before creating Tuffrides, I searched the web for custom spark plug wire looms and before creating Hotrod Resource, I searched for a quality hotÔ_rod site where I could advertise. Ô_It didn_ã_t exist. Ô_That was my inspiration besides Hotrod Resource, giving hotrodders like myself a place to find all the things they needed for their latest build or even just a gift for the fellow hotrodder. Ô_Why not have one place that is exclusive to hotrodders?
TheÔ_website has turned into what can best be described as a siteÔ_where lifestyle meets necessity. Ô_Aside from the vendor section, can you please tell me about the other features of your site that areÔ_geared toward your members?
The entire site is geared towards our members but I think that new members would be excited about our photo area of the site, this is a great place to view our own photo coverage of hot rod car shows, add photos that they_ã_ve taken from car shows, as well as view other member_ã_s photos. Ô_They can also add their hot rod for sale on there, free of charge unlike other sites. We also update the blog with recaps from shows and the current events of theÔ_hot rod community. Ô_We offer a car show calendar where we upload upcoming shows and events, especially ones that we will be attending. Ô_Another great monthly feature is our Miss Hotrod Resource, we update the pin ups monthlyÔ_so it_ã_s gives our members something to look forward to every month. Ô_We also have a store on the site. Ô_It_ã_s currently only Tuffrides products as we are waiting for the launch of a better store front and plan on opening it up to our other vendors.
I know firsthand the countless hours you have dedicated to the creation, design, and flow of the site (just to name a few). What_ã_s been the biggest challenge you have faced so far?
Just the fear of creating something my fellow hotrodders wont like.
Who inspires you in life and in business and why?
My dad. Although he_ã_s not the nicest guy in the world, he has always pushed me to invent and have my own business. Ô_He took me to some of the richest areas in Southern California and told me _ãThey are no different than you._ã Ô_
Are there future collaborations in the works? Ô_If so, to what extent? Ô_
We are constantly working with our vendors and reaching out to other vendors for giveaways for our members, interviews to feature on the blog, and just to keep in touch. Ô_After all this site is for the hot rod community.
How many employees do you currently have?
Just a few of my favorite people. Ô_Right now, my wife Summer, helps me with marketing and my father-in-law who can only be described as _ã_ the most interesting man on earth is my photographer. Together, we make a great team, attending car shows, snapping photos and meeting with vendors. Ô_
In the past you have mentioned giving back to the community, how do you plan to do that?
My wife is big into charities and charitable causes so she has made it a point to feature hot rod charities on our site. Ô_We currently feature The Pin Up Angels and plan on reaching out to several more. Ô_We hope that our members enjoy donating or giving back to the community as much as we do.
You have been quoted as saying how important the next generation of hot rod enthusiasts are.
I believe your exact quote was, _ãI want to keep the tradition alive, I don_ã_t want it to die with any given generation._ã Ô_How do you intend to help that along?
When I created Hotrod Resource I knew I was in it for the long haul. Ô_I want to pass this business down to my future kids and I want them to be as thrilled with hot rods as much I am. Although, we love the white hair car lovers we know that they won_ã_t be around forever soÔ_Ô_I think that by keeping up with social media it helps cater to the younger audience hot rod crowd.
I hear that your friends call you the _ãJack of all trades_ã why is that? Ô_
I think people sometimes think that they believe they cannot do something and therefore do not try. Ô_I_ã_m just the opposite. Ô_I don_ã_t believe there is any one thing I can_ã_t do. Ô_I will research until I find an answer or solution.Ô_
Your love of hot rods is more than just working on them and the site, it even influenced your wedding theme and landed you on TV! Ô_Can you share a bit about that? Ô_
When we were engaged, my wife wanted a french Baroque, Pin Up and Hot Rod themed wedding, I of course, wanted to drive my rat rod down the aisle to meet her. Ô_We sent our theme into My Fair Wedding with David Tutera and were picked to be featured on his show. Ô_He helped us with the theme and I ended up driving a Shelby Cobra down the aisle, which isn_ã_t my typically my style but much nicer than my _ã_36 rat rod and I didn_ã_t smell like exhaust walking down the aisle. Ô_
Sometimes it_ã_s the reminder of poverty. I remember my parents splitting up when I was a kid. Ô_I moved from the beach to a town where water was only a mirage. Ô_But make no mistake, growing up poor also allows me to appreciate more than the average person. Ô_I_ã_m grateful for that.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Working on HotrodResource.com of course! Ô_But besides that, working on hot rods and spending time with family. Family being the most important.

Anyone, and I mean anyone, man or woman, young or old, with a love and passion for hot rods.Ô_
What is your most prized possession?
My wife and family.

First off, sign up for the site. Ô_It is 100% free and there are lots of benefits! Ô_Secondly, please share our website, vendors, and photos on social media and encourage their friends to sign up for the site as well!
Where do you see Hotrod Resource in the future? Ô_
I only see it growing more and more. Ô_In addition to the new store front with the inclusion of additional vendors. Ô_We plan on having booths at car shows to get the word out, connect with our members and help promote our vendors!Ô_
